Issue/Question
Google has implemented a storage limit for Education customers. To get Oregon State University use under the limit, and remain there we need to limit the amount of data we have in Google. In order to reduce the OSU foot print, a limit of 10GB is being rolled out (See Google Drive - Storage Caps ).
- How do I migrate my Google Docs, and where can I migrate them?
Environment
- Oregon State University
- Student or Employee
- Google Drive
- Office 365
- OneDrive
Explanation
This article provides options for reducing your Google Drive usage.
Resolution
Remove unnecessary files from Google Drive, and then purge them from your Trash. The files will take space for 30 days unless you empty the trash in Google Drive.
We recommend that you switch to using OneDrive for cloud storage. Instructions to access OneDrive:
OneDrive - Access Files
To assist in the Migration, you can use Microsoft Migration Manager to copy your Google Drive data to OneDrive. The specific tool you will want to use is the Transfer Wizard, which will walk you through connecting to Google Drive as the source and OneDrive as the destination.
