Explanation
The Microsoft Remote Desktop app can be used to connect to a Windows server from a Mac.
Resolution
- Install the Remote Desktop app:
- Open the Apple Store
- Search for "Microsoft Remote Desktop Beta for MacOS" (or use this link: Get started with the macOS client)
- As of 6/12/2023, Select the link under the heading What about the Mac beta client? This will get you to the installer not linked to the Mac app store.
- Install the Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 app
- Open Microsoft Remote Desktop
- Create a new connection:
- Click the + button at the top of the window
- Select Desktop
- Enter the name or IP address of the Windows Server you would like to connect to
- Select Add
- Start the connection:
- In Microsoft Remote Desktop, double-click on the connection name
- Enter your Windows username and password when prompted
