Issue/Question
- How do I install the Unity Client for Hyland OnBase?
Environment
- Oregon State University
- Employee
- Windows
Explanation
While many OnBase users may be able to complete all work via the OnBase web client, some actions may require installation of the desktop client. There is no OnBase desktop client for Mac OS. Mac users would need to use the Web Client in their web browser or request access to the Unity Client at the apps.oregonstate.edu Citrix environment.
License Restrictions
Available for OSU faculty and staff on institutional computers for use with Oregon State University documents.
Install Steps
If installing from off campus, make sure to connect to the VPN before proceeding.
- If you currently have a version of the Hyland Unity Client installed on your machine, it must be uninstalled first.
- Go to "Add or remove programs"

- Find "Hyland Unity Client" and click the "Uninstall" button.

- After uninstallation is complete, continue with installation steps
- Open Windows file explorer and enter \\software.oregonstate.edu\software into the address bar.

- If prompted for a username and password, enter "ONID\[Your ONID Username]" for the username and your ONID password for the password.
- Find the "Hyland" folder and double-click to open it.
- Copy the "OnBase Unity Client" folder to your desktop.

- Open the folder on your desktop and right-click the setup.exe and choose "Run as administrator" to begin the installation.

- You may get a Windows prompt that asks "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" Hit the "Yes" button to continue installation.
- The Hyland Unity Client Setup Wizard will start. Hit the "Next" button to continue installation.

- The destination folder entry will be next. You can accept the default install location which is typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Hyland\Unity Client\ or selection another location if desired.

- The Custom Setup screen will then appear and you can hit the "Next" button to continue installation.

- Then it will ask for the Service Location. Leave it at the current settings as you will use a custom config file later in order to set these values.

- The Additional Settings screen will ask for the default mail client and you can select "Microsoft Outlook" and hit the "Next" button to continue installation.

- In the Unity Configuration File Location, uncheck the box that says "Deploy pre-configured Unity configuration file from specific location" and hit "Next" to continue installation. (This option would be nice, but it doesn't work correctly so that is the reason to uncheck the box.)

- Hit the "Install" button on the Ready to install Hyland Unity Client screen to continue installation.

- Installation is now complete, but the configuration file will still need to be put in place.

- Go back to the Unity Client install folder on your desktop e.g. C:\Users\<onid>\Desktop\OnBase Unity Client and right click on the "obunity.exe.config" file and select "Copy" option.

- In File Explorer, go to your installation directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Hyland\Unity Client and right-click in the blank space and choose "Paste"

- Chose the "Replace the file in the destination" option to continue installation.

- You may receive an access denied message. Hit the "Continue" button to continue installation.

- You can now launch the Unity Client. You should have the Prod and UT2 options in the first drop-down. If the options are missing, go back to the step to copy the config file and re-copy it. Installation is now complete.
